Aura Mechanics - How The Projector Aura Works

The Projector Aura is designed to operate at peak capacity when locked into another aura with permission, recognition, and invitation

The Projector is a complex energetic being - we must be invited into action and invited to guide the energy of others. With such a delicate energetic balance, it is critical that Projectors understand how their aura works and how to harness their energy for personal alignment.

What is an Aura?

Think of the aura as the operating system of a Projector. It is the energetic container and code that directs how you move through the world. Everything in your Human Design chart sits within the aura. It is the foundation for understanding yourself from a Human Design perspective.

Is a Human Design aura different?

Before I learned about Human Design, my understanding of auras was that they are all the same. In Human Design, there are 4 different aura shapes, The Projector, The Generator (with the subenergy type: The Manifesting-Generator), The Manifestor, and The Reflector. Each aura type has it’s own distinct energetic hallmarks for how they interact best in the world. Just like we can Projector Aura

How does the Projector Aura work? (Aura Mechanics)

Mechanically, the aura of a Projector is a piercing and absorbing 1:1 energetic connection. The aura of a Projector is designed to cut through the other aura. In Human Design literature this process is typically referred to as Penetration.

This process is inherently personal. The aura is designed to work as a 1:1 connection. When the connection is invited, it is a powerful vortex. However, if the connection was not properly set up, it is typically both painful and awkward for the Projector.

What happens when connection is made?

After the aura pierces and connects to the other aura, information can be read and the connection is felt by both the Projector that is penetrating and the aura who’s aura is being penetrated. All of the Projector’s attention is focused and funneled into the other person. It is intense, it is deep, it is PENETRATING. For contrast and context, the aura for Generators is designed to be more impersonal and handle multiple auras at one time.

What does a Projector Vortex feel like?

The experience of full Projector attention and penetration is not the typical experience for most people. It can be experienced as hypnotic and also addicting. A Projector Vortex occurs when you as the Projector fully tune in and connect to another person and they are fully connected back to you.

Because the aura is penetrating and absorbing, a good connection is an energetically emersive experience. When I am in a Projector Vortex (term my own) it is a full body experience of giving my full attention to another energetic being.

How do I know when I am being invited?

The invitation is determined through authority. As a splenic Projector, I know an invitation through an inner body strike of splenic awareness. Projectors have the most diversity in intuition (authority) learning how you experience authority is extremely valuable information. (Getting a reading can help with this if you’re in need of getting back in touch with your authority.)

What happens if I am not invited?

As you can imagine (and as you’ve likely experienced) as a Projector, things can go wrong when you don’t wait for an invitation. For example, you have likely have been misinterpreted, been rejected, been ignored, and been left out, or worse when you’ve tried to force yourself in to places you weren’t invited. You aren’t wrong or bad for not knowing how to use your energy correctly! Even after you’ve learned Human Design, you’ll still continue to develop your awareness about your personal energetics.

REMEMBER! Human Design is a system that benefits from time and gentle observation. Nothing about you is broken or needs to be fixed. It’s about paying attention to how you are showing up in the world.

PROJECTORS - THIS TIME IT IS PERSONAL

TO BE A PROJECTOR IS TO BE SEEN- EXPOSED, PERSONAL, RAW. It is the “prerequisite” to recognition and invitation.

If your life isn’t in flow and you’re a Projector, everything you read regarding Human Design can feel like a personal attack, and it can be depressing to keep trying to get the rules for the other energy types to bend to your will (spoiler alert, they never will)

As I deepen into my personal Projector experience, I am realizing that “the work” is getting comfortable with self-expression. If the only way out is through, then expressing myself means exposing myself. Vulnerability is both a practice and a power.

The people we resonate with the most are the people that unapologetically are themselves and the only way to be yourself is to be honest and vulnerable.

BUT!!!

I don’t think we talk enough about how fuuuuucking uncomfortable it is to be vulnerable ESPECIALLY WHEN THINGS HAVE NOT WORKED OUT TO PLAN IN THE PAST.

Projectors experience rejection differently because of how the aura is designed. That one to one energetic connection means when it doesn’t go smoothly, the energetic residue (or kickback) can lodge itself in our energy body, and that bitterness can appear.

TO decondition, to move out of our protective layer, TO MOVE THROUGH OUR PROGRAMMING is to sift through our conditioning and say, WHO THE FUCK AM I? WHAT DO I EVEN LIKE?

And this is the work that I personally have put off for ages, instead using my Projector aura to focus on others instead of doing the work of self-recognition.

It can feel so painfully personal to put myself out there and I think we should acknowledge How freaking AWKWARD it is to put yourself out there to get your feelings hurt or rejected, to say I LOVE THIS THING and have someone go, “that’s gross, disgusting, I hate that, ew.”

ACK. NO. I’d rather just stay in my little protected dream world (and I do, until I get fucking bitter as hell that no one sees me)

BECAUSE BEING SEEN AND RECOGNIZED BEGINS WITHIN — WE CANNOT BE SEEN IF WE’RE SPENDING ALL OUR TIME HIDING AND ACTIVELY CONCEALING OUR PERSONALITIES FROM CRITICISM.

THIS IS MY BATTLEGROUND and if this resonates with you, it may be your battleground too.

AnI I take solace that it is a tale as old as time. If Adam and Eve hid from God, so really who am I to think I wouldn’t have to reckon with this?

Spending time getting to know what’s in my chart has helped give me the permission and the confidence to move forward towards my desires. Seeing the talents in my chart has helped me process that I am uniquely designed for a specific function and by looking for others who are doing the same things that I am is the wrong avenue.

Human Design has shown me we’re all given a role and we can chose to play out that role OR NOT. We can always chose the not self, it will always be there. And so the personal route is frequently the lonely route, it can be isolating to walk your own path, but ultimately it is YOUR PATH that will lead to satisfaction, peace, success, surprise.

EXERCISE IS SPIRITUAL WORK

THINGS THAT MAKE ME MAD: THAT SOCIETY SOLD ME THE LIE THAT EXERCISE IS FOR PEOPLE TO BECOME THIN AND BEAUTIFUL AND IF YOU AREN’T TONED AND THIN YOU SHOULD FEEL SHAME AND DEFINITELY MAKE SURE YOU ARE SPENDING ALL YOUR TIME WORSHIPPING TINY, TONED, YOUTHFUL BODIES AND REMEMBER ABOVE ALL THAT IF YOUR BODY ISN’T THAT IDEAL BODY THEN YOU SHOULD REPENT.

I think a lot about how unconscious we are when participating in society. It’s like David Foster Wallace’s This is Water; we accept things and forget they exist to the point that we’re blind to them.

Beauty standards are so ingrained in our culture that we do not realize they are another layer of keeping people repressed and separated from our bodies, distracted from living our authenticity.

It is SO alarming to me that exercise is perceived mainly as a tool for weight loss and maintenance instead of an incredibly powerful spiritual tool for connection and clearing.

When I was a fitness instructor, it was eye-opening to see how many people engaged in exercise from a standpoint of body punishment. I’m here because I’ve been bad, I’m here because [insert someone pinching their own skin for dramatic effect]. UGHHHHH. NO. NO. NO.

Of course, I’m mad because I fell for it too. I used to exercise for all the wrong reasons. I wanted so desperately to make my body comply. I didn’t feel acceptable, so maybe if I could shrink my body, then maybe I’d earn the right to exist and take up space. I exercised in semi-secret, embarrassed at how much effort I put in to exercising and still then I didn’t feel the right to call attention to my athleticism, as I was never enough; not thin enough, not strong enough, just never enough.

It may seem wild to know that it was an episode of GIRLS triggered a change, but truly it was this scene that blew the lid off my world. I was like OH MY GOD. Exercise is for all of us. It’s for the endorphins, not the the physical aesthetic results.

What if instead of participating in exercise for weight loss + aesthetic reasons, I participated in moving my body purely from the standpoint of enjoying and experiencing endorphins?

I stopped punishing my body with grueling workouts and started only going to classes that helped me get in tune with my body; gentle yoga, yoga + reiki classes, yin, restorative, gentle heated yoga… mmmm.. places where I could tune in and let go of all the bs that had been weighing me DOWN.

Exercise and movement is one of the most powerful ways that we can connect with the moment, be present, and shift out stuck emotions and experiences.

In their amazing book, Burnout, the Nagoski sisters, Emily and Amelia talk about how you HAVE to move your body until you find a release otherwise you’re trapping stress emotions in your body, it’s why endorphins are so important. We’re moving and releasing all our stress and being rewarded with feel good chemicals, but if we feel like the only way to engage in exercise is from a standpoint of body control, we’re missing the purpose and losing out.

WE CANNOT LET THE PATRIARCHY TAKE THIS ONE.

Like Elle Woods, my observation is simple - what if we can let go of what our body looks like as the ultimate goal of a workout, but instead focus on the glow?

Can we choose to focus our energy on how our bodies feel instead of how they look?

What would it look like if we used movement and exercise as a time to connect and excavate stuck emotions instead of a time of punishment or escape?

HUMAN DESIGN 101: THE NOT-SELF THEMES OF THE ENERGY CENTERS

I love how straightforward Human Design is.

The not-self themes of the aura types and energy centers zero in on exactly where we are out of integrity with our own energy.

The NOT-SELF is exactly what it says - it is an indication of where in the aura you are literally NOT your self.

Just as we can wear masks, we can chose (mostly subconsciously) to live off of energy that isn’t exactly ours. Each of us has energy that is consistent in our blueprint (your individual bodygraph is a map of this) and the places in our chart that are white are particularly susceptible to “borrowed” energy. When I was early days in Human Design, I thought that the not self themes were only relevant if you had a center open or undefined. HA. Any energy center defined, open, or undefined can operate from a place of not self.

How do you determine if you are in your not self? Look at the following questions. Answering yes to them isn’t shameful, wrong, or bad - it just means you are leaning into energy that isn’t yours a little too much. It is awareness and feedback you can use to ease back into your flow.

Each Energy Center has a Not-Self theme: These questions are an incredible and simple tool you can continually go back to and check where you are out of alignment - I suggest bookmarking this page so you can come back to it!

CROWN /INSPIRATION, HEAD CENTER - “Am I trying to answer everybody else’s questions?”

AJNA / MIND, POINT OF VIEW CENTER - “Am I trying to convince everyone/myself that I am certain?”

THROAT / COMMUNICATION, MANIFESTATION CENTER - “Am I trying to attract attention?”

G-CENTER / IDENTITY, LOVE, DIRECTION CENTER - “Am I looking for love and direction?”

HEART/EGO, WILLPOWER CENTER - ”Do I have something to prove or improve?”

SOLAR PLEXUS/EMOTIONAL CENTER - “Am I avoiding confrontation and truth?”

SACRAL/DESIRE, CREATIVITY, SEXUALITY CENTER - “Do I know when enough is enough?”

SPLEEN/INSTINCTS, INTUITION CENTER - “Am I holding on to what is not good for me?”

ROOT/ AMBITION, DRIVE CENTER - “Am I in a hurry to get everything done so I can be free of the pressure?”

REMEMBER: A Generator can still burn out even with a defined sacral center. When I realized it doesn’t matter if you have the center defined, open, or undefined in your chart - I was like OOOOOOOH this explains A LOT. I used to think Manifestors were all magic and so lucky with that defined throat connected directly to a motor, but a Manifestor can still use their throat center from a place of desperation and attention seeking! No one is immune to the Not-Self!!

It is simplistic to look at a chart and think defined energy is a gift more than openness because it is more “fixed.” Someone with more openness in their chart isn’t more likely to get caught in the not-self than someone with defined energy - this is what Ra was speaking to when he talked about the conditioning of a homogenized society (if you don’t know who Ra is, or what this last sentence means, that’s ok)

We are seduced by what we don’t have!! When/if we’re not rooted in our own energy, we’re likely out of whack in at least one energy center. (ahem, most people are not aligned in their own energy and that is fine! Again, this is an awareness tool!)

I find it comforting that every single one of us can all get out of balance in an energy center regardless of that center’s status in our chart. It is a reminder of our humanity and ability to mirror and get deep. The Not Self questions show us where we are out of our own bounds, allowing us to listen in on where we’re pushing or forcing instead of allowing.

On not being OK

Unraveling my perfectionism means doing the impossible - admitting that I am not OK.

Admitting where I am is the first step. I am the person that intellectualizes all my experiences so that I don’t have to feel them. I do my best to try and take a full 360 look at what’s happening so that I don’t have to *actually* experience it.

Perfectionism is the funny thing. We think we can bulletproof ourselves from pain, by creating an airtight life. Some of us are so hypervigilant that we prefer to take the first hit against outselves. A flawed logic that says, you can’t hurt me BECAUSE I DID IT FIRST.

I deeply see that growth comes from accepting where you are. We simply cannot grow until we admit we are stuck, or have been wrong, or made a mistake. However, what it’s taken me time to realize, is that if my worth is tied up in being perfect — the stakes to admitting that I need help are too high. If it hasn’t felt safe to not knowing, how do we take down the walls and experience growth?

This past year is the year I really understood and experienced that it is OK not to be OK. Needing help doesn’t diminish my value.

But, if you are used to trying to buy love — that manifests as perfectionism, trying to buy love through perfect acts makes it feel especially frightening to admit things aren’t as they seem.

Healing your heart comes from realizing your innate worth. Of course this is a tad bit more difficult to live than it is to write, but everything does come down to being willing to be wrong. To be willing to look at where I am.

I understood that I had to untie my worth from my performance, but the culture that we live sends very strong signals to the contrary. As a coach, I have seen this in my clients. I see their value even when they don’t. I understand so deeply that feeling that I am not good enough until I hit my goals. Feeling like there is so much more you can give. Feeling so frustrated that you aren’t where you know you can go.

What I saw so clearly for my clients, I wasn’t able to extend to myself. Now I see. The way to move forward in a way that feels good and supportive is by acknowledging you are already good enough. By loving yourself even though you aren’t perfect, that you aren’t at your goal. By loving myself even when I’ve made bad calls before and haven’t trusted myself completely. How can we expect to make better choices when we’re constantly beating ourselves up?

When I was a teacher and a graduate student, my research was rooted in the importance of a safe and welcoming environment. In my findings, if students didn’t have a safe environment, they couldn’t learn. The first and most critical element of learning is safety. Of course the irony was that I couldn’t quite create that for myself. I was too scared to admit how much I didn’t know to myself. I was out to prove people wrong instead, so I could distract myself from seeing how much inner work I needed to do on myself. I railed against my job and institutions about the changes they needed to make while not giving myself an ounce of grace in the concepts I knew were crucial elements of growth.

How can I provide safety for someone else or change for someone else if I can’t first do that for myself?

I have had a few conversations recently that have centered on the pressure to be certain (felt most frequently in open and undefined ajna in Human Design, but certainly also felt in defined Ajna’s as well!) These conversations forced something to the surface. I could no longer hide from the intense pressure I put on myself to have the answers in my own life.

Like so many people, I am unable to extend the grace I have for others to myself. So many of us fail to take our own good advice. I am so gentle with my clients and my friends, but when it comes to myself I have the most vicious inner voice and shame cycles that refuse to quit. After enough conversations about taking rest and feeling grateful for what you have, I had to acknowledge that hollow feeling as I spoke, I wasn’t walking my talk, because that would mean I have to face my perceived failings. I needed to keep punishing myself. I choose to fail myself first and foremost, but I also run away from really seeing the extent of this self-distruction. Is there anything more terrifying than not meeting my own expectations?

So instead of facing my self-sabotage, and consciously dealing with it, I avoided my feelings by stepping outside of myself, intellectualizing my choices and pain. Lying to myself about my circumstances instead of being brave and seeing clearly, picking out different victim narratives and when that didn’t work, choosing to numb myself through endless distractions in the news and streaming channels or focusing on how other people were making worse choices than myself.

My biggest seductive distraction is trying to free others while I myself am drowning (something that also literally happened to me as a child when I tried to save my sister in the deep end of the pool when I myself could barely swim) The biggest blessing and trap of being a Projector is that we deeply see others. We get seduced by it and it becomes this endless trail that we can follow to the detriment of ourselves.

I battle shame that I wasn’t as brave as I wish I was in the past, deeply embarrassed by how repressed I was, how small I was. How sad I was— but retreading these steps keeps me in the past and pushes me deeper into my self-repression, ultimately keeping me from showing up fully for myself, prolonging my pain.

I’ve understood that the only thing I can do (on my right angle incarnation cross of service) is to save myself, and I am ready now.

As I sit in meditation, as I get triggered by my family and life, it’s become so clear that the urge to fight and convince others that I am right is besides the point completely. I don’t have to convince anyone of anything. I don’t need to earn permission from someone else to do what I feel called to do. It is not my job to justify my life to anyone else. In trying to save someone else from their mistakes, I am avoiding the only work I have which is that I am here to work out my own salvation. I just have to save myself and tell you what I’ve done and that’s my service (again, my incarnation cross is the right angle cross of service).

Is it self-absorbed? Yes. Anyone born on a the right angle incarnation cross IS INHERENTLY SELF-ABSORBED. 70% of people are right angle incarnation crosses. We’re here with our own tests and instead of sitting down and working through our problems, we’re trying to point out how someone else is doing it wrong. We are all here with our own process to work out. My resolution for 2022? MYOB.

HELP! I AM STUCK! (WHAT TO DO TO GET BACK IN FLOW)

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU’RE TOTALLY STUCK.

BEING STUCK IS A UNIVERSAL EXPERIENCE.

Each of us are on our own journeys, floating around in our little space bubbles (your aura, duh) looking outward to figure out what’s going on in our inner world. The problem is exactly that - we’re all on our own track and our life path is COMPLETELY unique. We can’t cheat off of someone else’s paper because we each have our own tests. IS THIS METAPHOR CLEAR? Our lives, while intertwined, actually have almost nothing to do with each other because of our individual energetics. WE LIVE IN A GIANT ILLUSION because baby, we’re all just energy. Everything is energy.

WE SEE THIS WORLD, BUT UNDERNEATH IT ALL, WE’RE ALL JUST LIL ENERGY BUBBLES INTERACTING WITH EACH OTHER

STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS TO UNSTICKING YOUR STUCKNESS:

STEP ONE: I [INSERT NAME HERE] AM STUCK

First, identifying that you are stuck is the first step.

Accept where you are. There’s no use in fighting or denying it because you’ll stay stuck longer (this is a lesson I have learned the hard way MANY TIMES).

I don’t know about you, but I think most people like to hide/ignore/deny their problems from themselves. This isn’t the best strategy if you’re trying to get unstuck. When I was in yoga teacher training, we had to keep a daily journal about everything we were facing. We can’t run away from our problems as much as we’d like to and we can’t drink them away or distract them away or party them away - they are still there, you just probably added a hangover.

RUNNING AWAY FROM YOUR PROBLEMS IS A TEMPORARY SOLUTION - I HAVE TRIED THIS MANY TIMES. THEY FIND YOU. SEE SNL SKIT ABOVE.

STEP TWO: TAKE INVENTORY

GET YOUR BEARINGS. What is happening around you? It can be helpful to think of yourself as a journalist or explorer in the wild, here - because the more you can be objective and zoom out, describing what’s happening and figuring out what wheels are spinning and where the energy is jammed, you’ll be able to create a game plan.

This is a good time to get to journaling, talk to a therapist, coach, trusted friend.

NO PROBLEM SOLVING NEEDS TO BE DONE HERE - JUST OUTLINE THE FACTS: something like - “I cry each morning before I go to work because I’m so unfulfilled and also scared at my place of work,” and then keep digging (yes, this was me about like… 7 years ago? not great bob)

Being stuck can be, “ho-hum I don’t feel jazzed about life.” to extremely dark - if you are in the bottom of the hell pit and feeling like you don’t have any solutions reach out for professional help!!! The national suicide prevention hotline number is: 800-273-8255 there is NO SHAME IN NEEDING TO CALL IT.

STEP THREE: RELENTLESSLY CUT OUT THE EXCESS

WHAT CAN YOU CLEAR OUT? You’ve taken inventory. Now we take that inventory and we get to work! This is the time to slim down your schedule and your life to the bones. What don’t you need? This is a great time to Marie Kondo.

If you’ve identified that your job is killing your soul, but also that you are doing a lot of other stuff that’s not really helping - what can you quit? What can you walk away from?

We cut everything that isn’t the basics - protect your mental health, prioritize sleep, drink lots of water, and get outside/ get moving.

This isn’t about burning down everything around you (not that I’d rule that out if that feels right, ahem I see you Scorpios, but maybe see me for a 30 minute call first?) - but scaling back so you can create space.

STEP FOUR: START GENERATING SOME JOY

Scaling back to the basics means you can invite in the next chapter of your life. Being stuck typically means we’ve stayed in the old chapter too long / have been denying ourselves of acknowledging our growth and change. The good news? Life is always flowing around you. Things are always changing, even when it doesn’t seem like it.

What brings you joy? What simple things can you do to be in the moment?

Build moments into your schedule that make you happy! Is there an art exhibit you’ve been meaning to see? A friend who makes you laugh? A cheap improv show you can get tickets to?

Laughter and connection help us create creative solutions. Stepping away from your sticky situation helps build perspective and gets energy moving.

LEARNING TO LOVE YOURSELF WITH MAGIC BODY METHOD!

A few days ago I caught my reflection in the mirror last night and decided to document it. I paused a moment to think about how far I’ve come. It wasn’t so long ago that I was so painfully self-conscious that I could not relax. I was on high alert wondering how I was being perceived, because we live in a beauty obsessed world that is engineered to drive everyone insane.

When I was younger I would get as close to the mirror as possible and examine all my “flaws.” Not shockingly, this would send my self-esteem into a death spiral 🌀 

It’s taken a lot of time for me to come to a place of peace and now celebration and love when I see my face and body. I hate that this is the world we live in - a place that’s making us sick through manufactured self hate. BUT through self-care practices (big fan of mirror work  for clearing out negative self talk on appearance) and anti-diet philosophy - when I catch my reflection I now send reverence to myself. 

This world puts too much pressure on us all to conform to norms - in my own work and in magic body method - this is about finding your own rhythm 🥁 - so that when you catch your reflection - you want to celebrate yourself or at least be like, hey that’s me, cool 😎

As Louise Hay says, “the point of power is always in the present moment.” magic body method is the prerequisite to being present. 

In order to harness our magic and our power and truly work with the infinite resources that exist for us - we must be in our bodies. 

We must ground ourselves in the now. 

If you’ve protected yourself through disassociating, or are always future tripping, you need to FIRST practice being in your body. I’ve noticed in my own work and with my clients that no one is addressing this HUGE STEP of practicing being in the moment!!! 

Magic Body Method is for those who need to work on letting go and being present without losing themselves to a future that doesn’t yet exist. I have the channel of judgment in my chart and YES, I do feel it.

The channel of judgment connects gate18 in the spleen to gate 58 in the root. It is a pressurized channel that I am aware of essentially every waking minute of the day.

How I see and feel channel 18-48 is the *relentless* pursuit of perfection.

When I found out about Human Design and understood this channel - honestly, it was a massive weight off - at LAST there was a reason for the crushing perfectionism I felt ALL THE TIME! But what is fascinating about this channel of energy is that it isn’t meant to be turned inward! This energy in it’s purest expression is about the pressure act in service of greater humankind. It’s a pursuit of helping humans on the whole find joy.

Gate 18 in the spleen is about correction - in the I’Ching an English translation is “working on it.” The energy is an intuitive understanding and drive to fix and tinker. It’s also what gives gate 18 (and channel of judgment holders) an “eagle eye.” This energy is trained to spot the bottleneck. It’s deeply logical and based in seeing patterns - those of us who hold this energy know what will go wrong, and where you are going to go wrong - and we can accurately anticipate where something might fall short. The thing about gate 18 and this channel is that this information MUST BE ASKED FOR - otherwise it comes across as judgment.

Now, it’s not all doom and gloom for us 18-58’s - because Gate 58 is all about LOVING LIFE! The I’Ching calls gate 58 “the joyful lake.” 58 is about a deep well and inner resource of vitality and zest for life. One of my Human Design teachers likens it to being high on your own supply, LOLOL!!!

So when we look at 18-58 together - it’s the pressure to correct what we see for everyone to experience a deep abundance of inner joy. HOW BEAUTIFUL!!

As a person born into a woman’s body - I have struggled with perfectionism when it comes to my physical form - until I realized that it was the biggest block I had in fully being in my joy. The lower expression of energy from that pressure to be perfect and correct what I was doing all the time really killed my vibe. From my time as a special education teacher + teaching boutique fitness I realized how buying into beauty and diet culture is killing us while we’re still here.

So I’ve been creating a method that has helped free myself from diet culture and celebrate myself.

When I was able to make the most progress in my personal life and development was when I was able to just exist in my body, letting my self-consciousness drop and being fully in the moment. This was not an overnight process, but a deep awakening.

We’re meant to live and feel and experience, not watch our lives trying to manage how we’re perceived. This has been a huge process for me. (I have to shout out the work done by Beauty Redefined, The Fuck It Diet, Jessamyn Stanley, Megan of BodyPosi Panda, and many others who push back on mainstream beauty and wellness culture as they have all been instrumental in my recovery from disordered body issues)
